MIUI 12 official: App drawers, floating windows and much more coming soon

Xiaomi today announced the new update of its Android-based operating system: we are obviously talking about MIUI 12, a major release that brings with it decidedly interesting new functions and many small improvements in terms of graphic interface.
In fact, around the menus, you will slowly notice many new elements in terms of design: according to what Xiaomi declared, the inspiration comes from nature, with soft animations and realistic details. Added to this are the new Super Wallpapers, inspired by the Earth and Mars, with three zoom levels.
There are also important precautions in terms of privacy: the user can access information on how the apps use the permissions relating to location, contacts, call history, microphone and storage at any time. In addition, flashing notifications appear in the status bar when an application in the background accesses the camera, location or microphone.

Finally, let's move on to the most important news, the new functions that characterize MIUI 12 user experience:
  • Control center: the status bar is divided into two: with a swipe down on the left you access the notifications, while a swipe on the right takes us to the new control center. This is a minus where we can quickly access toggles and settings;
  • Multitasking: the new MIUI 12 multitasking is based on floating windows: you can start an application in floating mode, resize it and move it on the screen;
  • Screen transmission: Xiaomi has improved the screen transmission system: the user can now start transmitting documents, apps, videos and games with a single touch;
  • Ultra battery saving: this is a new mode that limits the functions that consume more battery to extend the duration of the autonomy and reduce energy consumption. Obviously, this does not affect calls, messages and network connectivity;
  • Dark Mode: a new dark mode, with a renewed color palette for backgrounds and applications, both system and third-party;
  • App Drawer: borrowed from the success received from Poco smartphones, the app drawer also arrives on MIUI, a "drawer" that contains all the applications, which can be activated with a swipe from the bottom;
MIUI 12 will be available in the coming weeks for Mi 9, Mi 9T, Mi 9T Pro, Redmi K20, Redmi K20 Pro and, subsequently, it will also arrive on many other Xiaomi devices.
